Weekend Get-Away!

We took a fun little weekend trip to Forth Worth!
We've been needing some time away from Houston, work, thesis writing, and routine.
We didn't really want to fly anywhere exotic because it's not so fun when you're big and pregnant, and a long driving trip really isn't an option with a pregnant lady + a 1 year old, so we decided to explore Texas!

Noah was a trooper in the car!
4 hours is rough in the back seat!
 -especially traveling backwards!

relaxing in the hotel room after the drive
here are the boys and their electronics

let's see...how to I turn this thing on?

We took a trip to the Fort Worth Zoo, and we all loved it!
It was only about 100° F ( 38° C),
perfect Zoo weather!
(ha!)

Noah knows lots of animal sounds, so when he saw an animal, he would (usually) make the (correct) sound.  :)
He did bark at a lot at animals that weren't dogs.
like this one- it was a meerkat, but i can see how it looks like a dog!  -at least like Deacon.

You can't tell, but we're in a bat cave!
We were happy to go any place that was cool!

Elephants!
He just stared them.

Flamingos!
(he quacked)

Here's how we started;
fresh, cool, and excited

 and here's how we ended.
We lasted 3 hours, which was longer than we expected to :)

Just outside our hotel was a place called the Water Gardens, which we imagined to be like Centennial Olympic park in Atlanta, where the kids could just run though the water and play a bit.
So we got Noah all suited up and ready to play in the water.

turns out the water gardens are just for looks,
and apparently you aren't allowed to do anything remotely fun around them.
they were pretty though!

Haven't taken one of these in a while.
It's all about Noah now

This was a waterfall/fountain thing that was built with stairs leading down to the pool at the bottom.  Very cool, but pretty dangerous.  Especially in Texas where people sue each other left and right.  One little slip and you're a goner.

Here's Preb at the bottom!
We read that 4 people did die here, (3 were saving the one who fell in) but they re-designed it in a safer way so that if someone falls in, they hopefully won't end up drowning.

Since the hardest part of taking a kid swimming is the prep-work, (swim diaper, pool clothes, pool shoes, and sunscreening (this involves a lot of running, chasing, moving squirming, fussing and energy),  and not wanting to waste all our hard prep-work, we took Noah to the hotel pool instead.

When we win the lottery, we're going to design a pool like this in our backyard.
It was 3 inches deep, so a kid could just sit down or run in it and you pretty much don't even have to watch them. ;)

playing with Pappa

One of our top 3 favorite hotels we've stayed at!

The hotel had a kid room with lots of games and toys and a moon walk!

We had it all to ourselves.
Noah of course loved it.

Noah's favorite part of the hotel room was looking out the window and waving and saying bye-bye to all the cars that drove by.
-special emphasis on "all".

We had such a fun time together and the weekend was just perfect!

Also, a very happy Father's Day to my Dad and to my sweet husband!
Two of the best dads I know!

  4. hey jaclyn and amanda,
the hotel was the omni :) it was super clean and nice, and all the staff was very friendly. we'd totally go back there again!

amanda- haha, yes, i totally agree with you that it's an american thing, we just always laugh and make fun of the amount of commercials on tv here that are like, have you or a loved one suffered these side-affects from the taking the drug, (drug name) , well you may have a claim... or have you been injured off shore? you may have a claim... etc. etc. and i'm sure ty has a lot to say about it! :)

can't wait to see you guys on friday! get pumped for finger painting!

eileen- thanks! and i can't wait to see pictures of your little one soon too :) hope you're feeling better!
