We were lucky enough -I mean THANKFUL enough- to celebrate with some fellow Americans, Thor and Kate who are from the north east. I know you are thinking, Thor??? Isn't that a Norwegian name? Yes, it is. His parents are from Norway and he is a first generation Norwegian from America.
So, that's their background. They are living in Norway as Young Life leaders, teaching the kids here about Jesus.
Making Thanksgiving is a lot of work! (thanks for doing it all those years, Mom!) But it is very nice to split the work with someone else.
Preben's mom was nice enough to give us her turkey that she bought in Denmark. -Turkeys aren't on every corner here in Norway. So thanks for the turkey, Anne Turid!
Me and Preb
Here are Thor and Kate and their little Hannah
Here are our little friendly pilgrim Publix friends, salt and pepper shakers.... I mean, could you have a cuter thing to season your food for Thanksgiving? I don't think so... unless you had little Indians to go along with them.
Here's Preben and Thor trying to download some TV U player thing so that we could watch the Macy's Day Parade and some football!! :) It's what we American's have to do over here in order to see what's happening back in the homeland.
We have so much to be Thankful for.
Family. Friends. Health. Food. Home. Job. Little Pilgrim salt & pepper shakers.
but mostly for Jesus giving His life for us.
"Give thanks to the God of Heaven. His love endures forever."
Psalm 136:26
This post reminds of last year. Wasn`t it last year Hilde and I visited you in Stavanger for Thanksgiving?
ReplyDeleteIt must be so fun to spend the day and all the cooking with some people from back home!
Have a great day, Ellen!
love, kari
Looks like you had a great feast! I could have not done it better myself! Love, Mom ( Mom and Dad Pilgrim shakers will be united some day with the children shakers )
